The Entrepreneurial Minute

Fostering Growth in Early Stage Companies

Are you trying to raise capital? Protect your IP? Build your Board? Develop a business plan? Launch a new product?

Now in its second year, The Entrepreneurial Minute, (eMinute) is an innovative program by the Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network designed to help early stage companies overcome the challenges of growing a successful business. The eMinute opportunity provides early stage companies with a forum to present their business challenge directly to angel investors, venture capital firms, service providers and potential partners in attendance at ENET's monthly networking meetings. eMinutes are also included in the following month’s eMinute “email blast.”

How it Works. Each month, one or two entrepreneurs will be selected to give a 1-minute (250 words) overview of their concept and business challenge. The overview should include:

• name and location of business
• experience of entrepreneur and management team
• target market need
• product or service solution
• business challenge to providing solution
• the assistance your company is seeking (ex. capital, services, partners, etc.).

You do not need to be an ENET or IEEE member to benefit from eMinute!

Previous presenters have said this about their eMinute experiences:

"The Entrepreneurial Minute was, from a business development perspective, the most productive five minutes of my career!" Jay Johnson, CEO, Synersoft.

“The eMinute was a great opportunity to get our message out to a diverse audience, and I am grateful to the Boston ENET for making it possible!,” Ray Deck, President, Element55: Automatic Time Capture.

Entrepreneurs will be prescreened by ENET and deemed to have a legitimate need prior to presenting.

How to Apply: Please send your 250 word draft of your eMinute to both Janet Britcher at janet@transformationmanagement.com and Sherry Handel at sherryhandel@gmail.com. Include your: phone number and best time to call you back. Questions? Call Janet Britcher at 617-244-5757, or Sherry Handel at 508-453-9202.  eMinute drafts need to be received by Janet Britcher and Sherry Handel by 5:00 pm on Thursday, the week prior to ENET's monthly meeting.  However, earlier is better as the eMinute pitch slots tend to fill up quickly.

Bradley Hodges is the founder of Prothelia, a biotechnology company focused on therapies for muscular dystrophy, based in Milford, MA.

I received my PhD in 1997, performed my post-doctoral work at Duke University, and I was a senior scientist at Genzyme for 7 years.

I, my collaborators and advisory board are all experts in the field of muscular dystrophy.

Our first product is a protein therapy that will treat ~45,000 patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy or DMD.

DMD is a lethal disease that affects only boys, and there are no approved therapies.

Our product should generate 1 to 3 billion in annual sales within 5 years post approval.

In addition to our protein therapy, we have a pipeline of follow on drugs that target larger disease populations.

What Prothelia needs are experienced and networked biotech investors who know how to navigate small molecule and protein therapies to market.

This is an opportunity to save the lives of thousands of kids and make a lot of money in the process, and I want to share it with the right people.
